It is very rare to see a celebrity spend more than a few hours in jail. Even rarer is seeing a celebrity be arrested and sent to prison for more than 30 days. Grammy award winning singer Lauren Hill was arrested and charged with failing to pay her taxes. She pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 3 months in federal prison back in July. Well now Brendan Spaar has learned that she has been released and is now subject to one year probation with three months under house arrest. The underlying crime was failure to pay taxes on 1.8 million dollars of income earned from 2005 - 2007. If she had a good accountant she would have probably only had to pay about 10 percent of that which comes to under $200,000. I know that sounds like a lot but those of us who are not celebrities end up paying double that percentage. May this serve as a lesson to all of you. Uncle Sam is going to get your money, even if you are one of the 1%. Here's to hoping that Lauren Hill releases another album and tours to support it.
